LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (Catholic Online) - The two women who are described as in their early 20s have been knocking on doors to ask for donations.
According to members of St. Raphael's Church, the women are not really "asking" for donations, they are demanding them. The women claim the money is for a church they are actually not affiliated with.
Some members of the community have reported the women as being so aggressive in their search for money that the women followed them into their living rooms and attempt to collect cash, credit card numbers and have offered to take people ATMs.
WINK news conducted interviews to see how bad the "nun situation" was.
Earl Smith, Lector and Eucharistic Minister, said, "It's not just a human issue, but it's a spiritual issue."
"I just feel that whoever is doing that is taking advantage of the people, the parishioners here at St. Raphael's. It just depicts how desperate people are in the world, in our society, that they will go and try to use the Catholic church, to use other people."
Palm Beach Post reports St. Raphael's churchgoers know it is a scam immediately "because there is only one nun currently in town and she does not fit the description."
