Join the Kings Men In a White House Witness to Marriage on Saturday, August 15, 2015
FREE Catholic Classes
On Saturday, August 15, 2015, faithful Catholic and other Christian men, will gather along with all who join them, to witness to the truth about marriage and the family - and the social order founded upon this truth. In an age of cowardice, the leaders of this gathering, an organization called the Kings Men, are a bold example of true Christian courage. We desperately need heroic men and women who will affirm, without compromise, in both word and true social action, that the truth about marriage serves the real common good of society.

CHESAPEAKE, VA (Catholic Online) - On Saturday, August 15, 2015, faithful Catholic and other Christian men, will gather along with all who join them, to witness to the truth about marriage and the family - and the social order founded upon this truth. In an age of cowardice, the leaders of this gathering, an organization called the Kings Men, are a bold example of true Christian courage.
Because of my prior obligations, I am unable to join them in person. So, I write to alert my readers of the event and encourage anyone who can attend to do so. I sincerely hope that this kind of gathering is repeated around the Nation in the days ahead. The purpose and mission of the gathering in Washington, DC is set forth on the web site devoted to the event. It can be found here.
The purpose is to give a public "Witness to the Nation the Glory of God's Plan for Marriage through Prayer, Fasting & Sacrifice." The mission is to "Protect Every Child's Right to a Mom and Dad."
This purpose and mission must continue well beyond this particular gathering on Saturday, August 14, 2015. The event is entitled a White House Witness because it will take place in front of the White House, at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It begins at 10 A.M. If you can attend, please do so! It has received virtually no coverage in the main stream media for an obvious reason - much of that main stream media is now a propaganda office for a movement dedicated to a Cultural Revolution.
The movement for Cultural Revolution which seeks to destroy marriage by "redefining" it is being led by organizations which reject the Natural Moral Law and the loving plan of God for marriage, family and a truly free, just and human society. They thereby also reject the indispensable moral foundations of freedom.
A majority of Justices of the United States Supreme Court exceeded any authority they had under the constitution and purported to redefine marriage by judicial fiat in a case styled Obergefell v Hodges. I analyzed that abysmal opinion - and its implications - in an article entitled "Christianity After Obergefell, When the First Amendment Doesn't Help." No Court, Legislature or Executive has any such authority. This decision is tantamount to the Roe v Wade of Marriage and the Family.
Marriage is only possible between one man and one woman because only a man and a woman can achieve together the unitive and procreative ends of marriage. Marriage is intended for life, open to life and formative of the family, which is the first vital cell of society. Marriage as an institution preceded civil government and the institutional church. It is the foundation of the entire social order and is absolutely essential for the upbringing of children.
The truth concerning the nature of marriage as between one man and woman is revealed in the Natural Moral Law and confirmed and elevated by Revelation. The acceptance of this objective truth about the nature of marriage is also accepted cross culturally. This is not solely a religious belief, meaning that only religious people believe it, it is ontologically true - and it is unchangeable.
The five justices who issued the majority opinion in Obergefell v Hodges changed nothing concerning the nature of marriage by their horrid opinion. The assault on marriage which will accompany the implementation of this opinion is a threat to true progress and human flourishing. It cannot and it will not stand. However, until it is properly dealt with, the majority opinion has shifted the ground upon which faithful Christians must now stand in what is a new missionary age.
Within weeks of the opinion the soft persecution of faithful Christians has increased. I have written extensively about this growing soft persecution. You can read these articles at The Stream. It will accelerate.
We desperately need heroic men and women who will affirm, without compromise, in both word and true social action, that the truth about marriage serves the real common good of society. The organization sponsoring this event, The Kings Men, is an association of Catholic Christian men who understand and affirm this truth. They are also acting upon it. May we all follow their example in the days ahead.
The organizational mission of The Kings Men is a summary of what every Christian man is called to - no matter what Christian confession they hold to: "Under Christ the King's universal call to serve, we as men, pledge to unite and build up other men in the mold of leader, protector, and provider through education, formation, healing, and action".
On the site dedicated to the event on Saturday they set forth a statement of beliefs which I affirm. I invite you to do the same:
We Believe That:
-The basic purpose of marriage in our society is for the good of the couple and procreation and education of children.
-Marriage is a sacrament and the union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others.
-Same sex marriage legislation creates a society that does not acknowledge a commitment to its future: children.
-Every child deserves a mother and a father.
-Parents are the most important part of a stable and healthy family.
-A mother and a father have vital and complimentary roles to fulfill in the raising of children.
-Each parent contributes differently in their child's intellectual, emotional, moral and social development.
-The state is entrusted with a duty to create laws that are in the best interest of children and should seek to support and provide for the invaluable contributions of a mother and father.
