Mentally ill man beheads wife to 'get the evil out' of her

Police authorities have found a man from Arizona inside an apartment full of blood, after a neighbor decided to check on him and discovered the gruesome scene. Inside a closet was the headless body of his wife, along with her dogs. The man admitted to decapitating his wife, saying that he was trying "to get the evil out" of her, according to the court documents released Monday, as reported by Reuters. He is held with a $2 million bond for the crime.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Kenneth Dale Wakefield, a 43-year-old man who has a history of mental illness, admitted to the crime and is now in the custody of the Maricopa County after being released from the hospital, sustaining self-inflicted injuries.
He was charged by the Maricopa County Superior Court with one count of first-degree murder for the death of his wife, Trina Heisch, 49, and two counts of animal cruelty for the grisly killing of her two dogs.
During his interview, Wakefield told the police he had smoked marijuana and took Spice, a designer drug, at least an hour before he committed the killing. He said he stabbed Trina multiple times before decapitating her and then beheading her dogs.
"He said he was trying to get the evil out of Trina," said the police in the statement of probable cause filed with the court.
The crime was found after a neighbor decided to check on the couple who were known as having a history of suffering from mental illnesses, drug problems and domestic violence. The neighbor explained he found Wakefield naked with a part of his arm and his right eye missing inside the blood-spilled apartment and then called the police.
According to family members, the couple met each other in a mental facility.
