As Pope Francis' ratings plummet, the Vatican remains confident.

Pope Francis will visit the United States for the first time ever in his lifetime during September. However, amid the excitement, the American populace may have lost some warmth towards the pontiff, who they once believed revived the Catholic Church in the country. However, the Vatican explained that the Pope, no matter what response he gets from different groups, is just doing his job.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - In the latest Gallup poll, the Argentine Pope's liking among Americans plummeted from 76 percent in February 2014 to 59 percent. According to some theories, this cooled response emanated from his recent attacks on global capitalism over the past few months.

During his visit to Latin America, he called the rampant free market the "dung of the devil" and a "subtle dictatorship," according to the Financial Times. Pope Francis also criticized big businesses for their devastation on nature in his last month's encyclical.

The Pope's campaign to act against climate change largely added to the denominator - Republicans have been upfront in questioning the science behind the phenomena.

"There is no doubt that the U.S. is a particularly tough audience for this Pope's message. In some ways there is a perception that this just isn't our Pope... It's not just the anti-capitalist stuff - it's also his drive to lift up the periphery rather than the center, and by most standards we are the center," said John Allen, associate editor for Catholic Boston-based website Crux.

Nonetheless, the Vatican sees nothing to be worried about, regarding the poll.

"The Pope is Catholic, he's not of the right and he's not of the left. For every point you can score on the right, you can score one on the left, and if he bothers your conscience it just means he's doing his job," said one senior official with the Vatican.
