MUNTINLUPA CITY, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - The White House and other government buildings paid respect to the victims of the Chattanooga shooting by placing the U.S. flag at half staff. After much criticism against Obama, regarding the incident and failure to properly address it, he finally paid tribute to the victims during his latest public appearance.

"As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on July 16, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, July 25, 2015," President Barack Obama declared in a statement last Tuesday.

The criticism the White House endured was mainly over scrutiny from the public after the White House flag remained at full staff, while all the other American flags in Capitol Hill were lowered to honor the victims of the Chattanooga, Tennessee shooting.

Involvement from Al-Qaeda and ISIS have not been confirmed, but the two militant groups have been very vocal about possible attacks in the U.S. However, Obama assured the nation that the entire government is keeping everything in order to protect the American people, as well as the people serving under the U.S. government.

Five service members working for the government were senselessly killed during the Chattanooga shooting. Obama insisted that the whole nation will not give in to fear that the militants or other terrorists may bring. He strongly believes America is a united nation and no one can divide it. He also believes that no terrorist attack or agenda can change the values of the American life and freedom.
