April Lee Yates is charged with fraud for trying to avoid paying dinner at Bennett's Calabash

Bennett's Calabash Seafood Buffet Restaurant in Myrtle Beach files fraud charges against customer, April Lee Yates, for refusing to pay and leave the restaurant premises, last Sunday. The 51-year-old caused a commotion, disturbing other patrons in the restaurant after refusing to pay her $26 dinner. Yates claimed that "Jesus" will pay the bill for her.

MUNTINLUPA CITY, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - The famous Bennett's Calabash Seafood Buffet Restaurant in Myrtle Beach called for police assistance, last Sunday night around 9:15 p.m. Yates came four hours before her strange claims, ordered dinner, ate dinner and then later on refused to pay. She stated that her $26 bill would be paid by "Jesus." She informed authorities that she knew she had no money with her upon entering the seafood buffet restaurant.

Yates was arrested and is now facing charges of fraud, after refusing to pay for her dinner and leave the restaurant. They called police officers after Yates refused to pay her dinner tab.

Yates was also starting to create a commotion and bother other patrons in the establishment. When asked what she was planning to do when the bill came, she replied that someone was going to pay for it. Yates told authorities that "Jesus" would pay for her bill that night.

No bond amount was provided for Yates, who was later placed in custody at the Horry County, SC. Police did not confirm whether Yates was in the right mind or if she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
