We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

Mississippi is dubbed the 'couch potato capital' of the country.

Mississippi has the greatest number of people not participating in healthy, physical activities than any other state in the country, according to research. Using the data collected from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about American's exercises, they found one in four people are not exercising outside of work during the last month.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - In a generated map using the data collected from a 2012 survey, the states were color coded in terms of people participating in physical activities or the lack thereof. Dark blue suggested that there is a low number of people physically inactive; dark orange represents the high number of physically inactive people.

Adults around 20-years-old and up were asked the survey question, "During the past month, other than your regular job, did you participate in any physical activities or exercises such as running, calisthenics, golf, gardening or walking for exercise?" according to The Blaze.

Using the statistics generated, North Dakota came in 10th place with about 24.8 percent of its citizens declaring no exercise within the past 30 days. Indiana was in 9th place with 27.2 percent of the population, which is just slightly below from the number of physically inactive people in Kentucky, 27.8 percent.

Seventh place was Alabama with 28.4 percent; while 29.3 percent of the people from Louisiana had also not exercised last month, 6th.

Oklahoma and West Virginia were the 5th and 4th "laziest state" with 29.8 percent and 30.5 percent, respectively. At about 30.6 percent, Arkansas is the 3rd place of physically unengaged people of the past 30 days.

Not quite far ahead, Tennessee got 31.3 percent of its population lacking in exercise, landing in the study's second place position. Lastly, the dubbed "couch potato capital," Mississippi, was found with 32.9 percent of declared physically inactive people.
