The Census Bureau has reported that the Northeast is losing power in the U.S. as many citizens leave the high-tax region, heading south or west to states with lesser tax burdens.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Population growth has shifted, primarily to the South, the Census Bureau's finding revealed, and the 11 states that were once the largest producers of American politicians are now losing their representatives.

The chief blame is laid on the rising taxes in states like Massachusetts and Connecticut. Population growth in the Northeast was just 15% from 1983 to 2013, while throughout the rest of the nation, population growth was 41% over the same period.
A recent report from the American Legislative Exchange Council showed the drop in population compared to the rest of the country. States between Pennsylvania and Maine had 141 members in the House of Representatives in 1950, but that number dropped about 40% through today.
Currently, those 11 states have only 85 Representatives, the same number as California and Texas combined.
"This result is one of the most dramatic demographic shifts in American history. This migration is shifting the power center of America right before our very eyes. The movement isn't random or even about weather or resources. Economic freedom is the magnet and states ignore this force at their own peril," the report said.
