Who is America's 'prophet'? It might just surprise you

A familiar face may be just the ticket for the Republican Party if it wishes to take the White House in 2016.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Mitt Romney has proven to be almost prophetic in his vision of the future when he ran for the highest U.S. office, predicting disaster in Iraq, Mali, and strained relations with Russia.

You can light up the darkness with "prayer and action."

During the 2012 presidential debate Romney warned America about Russian expansionism under Vladimir Putin, naming the country a "geopolitical foe." President Barack Obama gibed back that "the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back, because the Cold War has now been over for twenty years."

Lo and behold, Russia annexed Crimea in early 2014, and currently has massed troops on Ukraine's border, and provided the weaponry that shot down a Malaysian airline in July.

Just seconds later, Obama continued: "Just a few weeks ago, you said you think we should have more troops in Iraq right now."

Again, Romney gains a point. Iraq is nearing its breaking point with the Caliphate of the Islamic State is making incredible gains against a disorganized and fractured country. The Caliphate has begun a program of murdering religious minorities, and the U.S. has begun a campaign of airstrikes against Islamic State targets.

Romney also predicted the rise of Islamic extremists in the norther part of Mali.

Even more importantly, Romney's view of a more proactive foreign policy world-view seems to have been the right one, judging by the state of affairs in the world today. Obama's "leading from behind," strategy has failed.

Even on the domestic front, Romney seemed aware of the future, warning about ObamaCare and that "people who counted on the insurance plan they had in the past" would "lose it". In 2013, Politfact named the "if you like your plan, you can keep it" line by Obama, their "lie of the year".
