BOSTON, MA (Catholic Online) - The city of Boston and several suburbs have been locked down as authorities are pursuing the second Boston Marathon bombing suspect. He is identified as Dzhokhar Tsarnev, 19, originally from Chechnya and in the United States on a valid visa.
Suspect No. 1 has been identified as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26. He was killed Thursday night in a shootout with police in the suburb of Watertown.
In an abundance of caution, the entire city has been locked down and public transit halted. A no-fly zone has been established over Boston and its environs.
Yesterday, authorities requested public help in identifying two suspects and a third person of interest, seen on photographs and video from the Boston Marathon. Users on the Reddit internet forum originally picked out the suspects, nothing that their reactions to the bombings were atypical.
Suspect No. 2, is said to be armed and dangerous. Both were involved in an overnight shootout that developed into a chase with bombs and gunfire. At this time, suspect no. 2 is believed to be surrounded in a Watertown neighborhood.
Police and SWAT teams are deployed en force.
Catholic Online will post updates as they become available.
