Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

The distinction between true and false prophets is not my own. It is a part of the Jewish and Christian tradition

The "Humboldt County Clergy for Choice" of Planned Parenthood and this "40 days of prayer and contemplation" is fruit from a poisonous tree. The members of this Council are false prophets. Their call for gatherings to pray for "reproductive justice" began on March 18, 2012 and is scheduled through April 27, 2012. In their brochure they invoke whomever it is they are praying to send "a cloud of gentleness to surround every abortion facility." How horribly evil and profane that request is! In those abortion facilities children are dismembered, burned and suctioned to death.

P>EUREKA,CA (Catholic Online) - Six Rivers Planned Parenthood in Eureka, California has been the subject of numerous reports in the Pro-Life news community. Their branch of "Clergy for Choice" is leading what they are calling "40 Days of Prayer and Contemplation".

The campaign brochure offers themes for prayer and meditation each day.  Obviously modeled after the "40 Days for Life" campaign which has resulted in saving the lives of numerous children, this counterfeit campaign has been designed by a group which calls itself "Faith Aloud".

"Faith Aloud" is another organization purporting to be "spiritual" while calling the intentional killing of children in the womb a "moral choice". For those who wish to see the depths of the depravity of the "Faith Aloud" outreach and its other social commitments, you can go here.

The outcry in the authentically Christian community - once made aware of this sophistry and perfidy - has been loud. However, too many authentic Christians and other people of faith and good will who value the dignity of every life are not even aware of it. That is why I write, to sound the trumpet.

I think we need to be ready for much more of this effort to call evil good. The Hebrew prophet Isaiah warned Israel of "those who call evil good and good evil, who change darkness to light, and light into darkness, who change bitter to sweet, and sweet into bitter." (Isaiah 5:20) These false prophets are not new. However, they need to be exposed and opposed in our own day and we must undertake that task.

Years ago I wrote about Planned Parenthood's 2007-2008 Annual Report. As a 501 c3 organization (with an affiliated "Action fund" for its more overtly political efforts) they have to make the report available to the public. I understand the role and function of such reports having led not for profit groups in the past. It keeps members, supporters and friends aware of the organizations use of their funds and gives the organization the opportunity to self promote. The Planned Parenthood report was deeply disturbing on so many fronts.

Planned Parenthood is built on a lie. They have dressed themselves up as a "Health Care Provider" while they include the taking of the lives of innocent children in the womb as a "service" under their offering of "reproductive services". They have insinuated themselves into the global delivery of "medical services" receiving massive government funding.

There is nothing "reproductive" about abortion, it always kills. It is not a service to the child, the mother, the father or society. Nor is it "health care". It is feticide. Funding it is morally repugnant. Planned Parenthood is the leading institutional champion of a culture which has redefined "choice" to include killing young innocent human life and "freedom" to include the commission of unspeakable horrors against an entire class of people, children in the first home of the whole human race.

Their 2007 - 2008 Report took those claims to a level of audacity which I had never seen. They honored a woman who referred to the killing of children in the womb through surgical strikes and chemical weapons as "Sacred Work" and "Prophetic Work".  Isaiah also warned of "those who are wise in their own sight, and prudent in their own esteem!" (Isaiah 5: 21). She is a false prophet.

The distinction between true and false prophets is not my own. It is a part of the Jewish and Christian tradition. Planned Parenthood's "Clergy for Choice" are false prophets. The "Didache" or "The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles" dates from the 1st Century. In it we discover how the early Christians discerned the difference between true and false prophets.

Let me turn to its language: "There are two ways, one of life and one of death; and between the two ways there is a great difference. Now, this is the way of life. Do not murder; do not commit adultery; do not corrupt boys; do not fornicate; do not steal; do not practice magic; do not go in for sorcery; do not murder a child by abortion or kill a newborn infant."

This is a part of a long line of unbroken Christian teaching which, along with the clear witness of the Scriptures and Church Councils affirms the absolute rejection of abortion in Christianity. To claim otherwise is simply to lie about history. The "Didache" also dealt with people using the name Christian and claiming to be prophetic when they were neither. Later we read this warning: "Let everyone who "comes in the Name of the Lord" be received; but when you have tested him you shall know him, for you shall have understanding of true and false.'

In the 2007-2008 Report I read these words, "Planned Parenthood is the leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider, with 93 years under our belt. And in the near future, we will play a unique role in helping to shape the health agenda for the new administration." The specter of that involvement haunted me then. The passage of the "Affordable Care Act" and its HHS Mandate proved they meant what they wrote. They have found their place in the Obama administration.

Every year Planned Parenthood honors those who embody their "mission". One of those honors is the bestowal of the "Davis Award" on the man, woman or organization which they feel best embodies that mission. It is named after Reverend Tom Davis, a minister in the United Church of Christ and his wife.

Davis wrote a book entitled "Abortion -- Is it Necessary?" in which he contended that the "sacred work of justice," requires that America provide abortions to women. In 2007- 2008 he was the chair of the "Clergy Advisory Board" of Planned Parenthood. Here is its "mission" from that 2007-2008 report:

"Members of our Clergy Advisory Board (CAB) speak out about the theological basis for choice and mobilize fellow clergy and lay religious leaders to join the PPFA Pro-Choice Religious Network, a national membership organization advocating for the right of women and men to make informed, morally responsible choices about their reproductive lives."

"Clergy members at the affiliate level support grassroots advocacy efforts and educational programming. Last year, CAB members issued statements in support of religious pluralism and health care advocacy for women of color. They also wrote a pastoral letter on abortion for affiliates to place in their waiting rooms as a respectful way of ministering to women who view their medical decision making in a religious or spiritual framework."

"The CAB also published the Clergy Voices newsletter and coordinated an interfaith convocation at the Planned Parenthood national conference. The recipient of the 2008 Davis Distinguished Service Award, presented at the Interfaith Prayer Breakfast, was Rev. Deborah McKinley, the first woman to receive the honor."

In accepting the award, Rev. McKinley claimed that the work of providing abortions was "Sacred Work" and "Prophetic work". Here are her exact words: "I want to talk with you today about prophets. Prophets are rarely welcomed with open arms. They are often kept at arm's length. Because prophets make people uncomfortable.

"I speak of a prophet not as one who predicts the future. Biblical prophets did not predict the future. Prophets see the world as it is. They name it for what it is, and call for change. They speak the truth. They speak God's truth. You and I, I believe, are also prophets."

"The work we do, on behalf of women and men, is prophetic work. I know this is said every year - but it's true: the work we do is sacred work. Thank you, Tom Davis, for that fantastic phrase. Sacred work. What you and I do is sacred work, it is prophetic work."

This profane assertion was not the worst claim in her acceptance speech. She pilloried those who oppose the taking of the lives of children through abortion, calling them liars who were not pursuing "right living". In her words: "Prophets speak truth. They name lies for what they are - lies. Let's start with the obvious ones: It's not "pro-life." It's anti-choice."

"Abstinence-only education does not work. See? You can do it! You're a prophet. Prophets name lies for what they are: lies. The prophet's job is to make the people uncomfortable - so that they move away from those lies and toward the truth, so that they move toward justice, so that they move toward right living."

The direction to the early Christians in the Didache is vitally important to those of us who are Christians in this Third Millennium. The recipient of this award in 2008 is deceived. She and the organization which she fronts for, Planned Parenthood, is engaged in evil work in the abortion business.

"Woe those who call evil good and good evil, who change darkness to light, and light into darkness, who change bitter to sweet, and sweet into bitter." (Isaiah 5:20).
