U.S. to hand over Sleiman Daoud al-Afari to Kurds.

The U.S. military has captured an ISIS chemical weapons expert, who is likely responsible for the terror organization's chemical weapons program. Sleiman Daoud al-Afari was captured in February by a special units of American troops. His fate may be unsavory as officials have announced plans to hand him over to the Kurds.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - It has been known for some time that ISIS has and uses chemical weapons. Last August, the terrorists deployed chemical weapons outside Aleppo which resulted in the death of a baby.

The capture of the weapons expert represents the first public success for the "Expeditionary Targeting Force," which is made of two 50-man teams of elite soldiers. The teams were formed in December 2015 with the mission of targeting and capturing, or killing top ISIS leaders and key personnel.

The team captured Sleiman Daoud al-Afari in February. Al-Afari is accused of being responsible for some deadly ISIS operations, although officials have not been specific.

His fate does not look good either. Al-Afari is due to be turned over to Kurdish forces before the end of this week, and unlike the U.S., they may not prove to be the kindest captors. The Kurds have suffered greatly under ISIS occupation. Human rights monitors have accused the Kurds of routinely torturing captives handed over by the U.S.

Despote the risk of torture, few people are expected to protest al-Afari's fate.
