We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

'The Biter' is described as similar to a hunting trap

Sharp, terrifying and described as similar to a hunting trap, ISIS' torture device known as 'the Biter' inflicts intense and unimaginable pain on the women living under the terrorist group's command.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - "The Biter has become a nightmare for us. My sister was punished so harshly last month because she had forgotten her gloves and left them at home," expressed Fatima, a 22-year-old house wife who fled ISIS in Iraq. "The bruises and scars are still visible on her arm. She said the biting punishment is more painful than labour."

The brutal tool is used to punish women who disobey ISIS' strict version of Sharia law. Women can not venture out showing any skin; they must be fully veiled, wear loose pants, socks, gloves and be beside a male family member.

"I felt then that my femininity has been destroyed completely, we can no longer afford to live this way, I was not the only one that was tortured with this instrument, there were a lot of women in the headquarters and their situation was tragic," explained a woman who was forced to endure 'the Biter' as a punishment for breastfeeding in public, although she was still completely covered.

"[I] did not know what a 'biter' was and I thought it is a reduced sentence, I was afraid of whipping, so I choose the 'biter,'" she continued, recalling the horrific experience. "Then they brought a sharp object that has a a lot of teeth and held me, placing it on my chest and pressing it strongly, I screamed from pain and I was badly injured. They later took me to the hospital."

According to Fatima, the militants had become increasingly more violent over the past year, and the food, water, fuel and electricity supply was running very low in Mosul. The terror group's notorious public executions and punishments have become more frequent as ISIS appears to be in a panicked state of control.

In a recent statement, the terror group is said to have even banned "music and songs in cars, at parties, in shops and in public, as well as photographs of people in shop windows."

As the United States and other countries continue to blast air strikes and counter attacks on the terror group, one can only expect the group to enter a greater state of panic. It is important to remember the innocent people forced to suffer through the situation and to pray they find a safe place.
