LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The Federal Russian Tourism Agency, Rosturizm, stated on Wednesday that according to "data from relevant authorities," ISIS is "planning abductions of hostages, including citizens of the Russian Federation, staying in the Republic of Turkey.
"Based on the given information, hostages could be handed over to the territory controlled by the militants for the purpose of public executions and to be used as human shields in skirmishes with Syrian government and coalition armed forces."
The statement continued, urging Russian tourists in Turkey to ensure their safety.Turkey has been a popular vacation destination for Russian citizens for years, but Moscow banned organized tours to the country as terror threats and encounters escalated.
Russian-Turkish relations have been strained since September, when Russia joined forces with Syria and initiated air strikes in the war-riddled country, while Turkey joined the US-led coalition to fight ISIS.Allegations of ISIS using citizens as human shields is not far from the realm of possibility as the terrorist group has used human shields before on several occasions.
So long as ISIS exists, its acts of terrorism will remain unfailingly grotesque to the civilized world.
Please pray that God changes the atmosphere in the Middle East and takes control over the evil thriving there.
