Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >
Pray for the Innocent: 70 Syrian civilians horrifically killed since December 1st

Missiles continue to fall on the Syrian city of Aleppo, despite the fact that it has been recaptured from ISIS' grasp. Unfortunately, the strikes continue to tear down the already desolate city, leaving shocked and wounded survivors, higher civilian death tolls and frightened citizens. Please offer your prayers to those who continue to live in fear and danger.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The city of Aleppo has been ISIS-free for a while, yet missiles continue to fall.
The humanitarian groups Syrian Civil Defense and the White Helmets were recently photographed helping people from the rubble and debris left in Aleppo following an air strike.
The White Helmets tweeted, "Five children have just been rescued in Aleppo after air strikes. #good day."Saving five children in a single day is an accomplishment within Aleppo, which the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (SOHR) claims has lost 70 civilians including eighteen children and 15 women since December first.
Ahmad, an Aleppo native told MailOnline: "The market is just 100 metres from a school - from little children. I can't describe the scene of blood, dead bodies, heads, feet, and scattered limbs. Recently, these things became normal. Seeing it is nothing like hearing about it."
A video of the aftermath of an attack in Aleppo's Fardous district, Syrian Civil Defense claimed Russian warplanes are responsible.Ahmad said, "The Russian warplanes fire missiles at distance [sic], you can never hear the roar, and the explosion happens suddenly and and [sic] they arrive as a group. For the regime, only one plane comes to bomb. Sometimes we see it - green and white - you can see with the naked eye.
"Their warplanes come close to the land when they want to shell."
SOHR and local activists disagree with what Ahmad had to say about the attacks, with one spokesman saying, "Strikes in Aleppo city are committed by the regime."
John Jaeger, a former U.S. State Department official who works in Syria, said there are too many war planes in Syria's skies to tell who is responsible for the air strikes.
"It is known Russia has targeted public infrastructure, like bakeries and hospitals, which would hurt both rebel fighters and the civilian population," Jaeger said. "It's possible that they missed their target in this case.
"We also know that Russia has used 'double tap' strikes, and the only reason to do this is to target first responders."
A double tap strike is when a second bomb follows the first, which kills anyone rushing in to help victims from the initial attack.
Please join CatholicOnline in a quick prayer for victims of war:
Lord God,
No one is a stranger to you and no one is ever far from your loving care.
In your kindness, watch over refugees and victims of war,
those separated from their loved ones,
young people who are lost,
and those who have left home or who have run away from home.
Bring them back safely to the place where they long to be and help us always to show your kindness to strangers and to all in need.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
