'I was standing at the city's guard post when I noticed the terrorist walking towards me...'

On Sunday, a 22-year-old Palestinian woman named Halva Alian was shot and is presumed dead, after she approached a civilian guard at a checkpoint outside the settlement city of Beitar Illit and attempted to stab him.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The entire event was caught on a surveillance camera, which shows Darwish calmly speaking to Yishai Kreitenberger. She wore a black abaya and hijab and appeared normal until she began to look around.

Kreitenberger told the Algemeiner Journal: "I was standing at the city's guard post when I noticed the terrorist walking towards me ... She was tense, looking around [as though] she was unfamiliar with the place. As she approached, she presented her green Palestinian ID card. So I told her she could not enter. While I was talking, I saw her putting her hand in her purse. I asked her why she was [doing that and] she took out a knife and managed to scratch me with it."

Her strangely calm attack moved out of the camera's view and Kreitenberger managed to shoot her. He was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem  to treat his wounds while Darwish was searched for explosives before being taken to Hadassah University Medical Center, and is believed to have died.

Beitar illit authorities said "It appears that the terrorist was on her way to a bust stop [to attack Jews], and the guard prevented a worse attack."

Meanwhile, Kreitenberger reported that Sunday was his thirty-third birthday, and stated, "I received my life as a gift today."
