MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - According to The Daily Mail, the European Leadership Network (ELN) believes hostility has risen since the events in Ukraine.

A Greek official announced the United States' request of Greece to deny Russia airspace for supply flights to Syria. The announcement came just after Washington told Moscow the reports of Russian military build-ups in Syria were concerning.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told Sergei Lavrov, Russia's SOS, that if Russian military build-up reports were accurate, the situation can escalate and potentially lead to a confrontation between Russia and the U.S.-led alliance currently fighting Islamic State in Syria.

However, a spokesperson from the Russian foreign ministry said that Lavrov told Kerry talking
about their military participation in Syria is premature.

They also denied to comment on the U.S. request in Greece, saying that they still await a response from Athens.

"The experience and credibility of those endorsing the recommendations of our recent task force suggests that the danger in the current situation is real and cannot be dismissed. The situation is now so bad that we need to re-learn some Cold War lessons on the art of confrontation management between nuclear armed states and alliances," said ELN director Ian Kearns.

According to The Independent, the ELN -an organization with both Russian and European members- wants to reconvene the NATO-Russia council and produce new and clear guidelines on the military exercises for both sides to prevent misunderstandings and hostilities between the nations.

Two former NATO secretary generals, Lord Richards and Sir Malcolm Rifkind, are among those reportedly supporting the proposal.

Russia is aiding President Bashar al-Assad against ISIS in Syria.
