Man injures six people, killing one.

During the annual gay pride march in Jerusalem last Thursday, a man jumped into the crowd and started stabbing participants of the event, injuring six of them. The man was identified as having just been released from jail for committing an almost exactly same crime a decade ago. The pride march continued, even after the violent incident, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - "This is a most serious incident. We will prosecute those responsible to the full extent of the law. Freedom of individual choice is a basic value in Israel," said PM Netanyahu in a released statement.

The attacker was identified as the Yishai Schlissel, an Orthodox Jewish man who was imprisoned for 10 years after wielding a knife and injuring three people during the annual parade in 2005. He was just released three weeks.

According to witnesses, about 5,000 participants were marching down to the avenue waving banners when Schlissel jumped in and started stabbing people. They explain that Schlissel was waiting inside a supermarket until the march reached his stop and went on with his attack. Despite the presence of police at the event, Schlissel managed to stage his act, leaving six wounded with two critically injured.

A 16-year-old victim passed away from her stabbing wounds.

Although Tel Aviv is considered a gay friendly business-centered city, many residents belong to groups that oppose homosexuality; Christians, Jews, Muslims and other conservatives have always stood against the annual pride march.
