We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

America's cash aid to Israel since 1948 is less than the Iran deal's $150 billion

A total of $150 billion is estimated to be the amount Iran will receive from the Iran deal. This amount will provide the country more than the $124.3 billion the U.S. has given to Israel in total financial aid since 1948.

Highlights

MUNTINLUPA CITY, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Many people already dispute what the exact amount of money Iran will be getting after its foreign assets are unfrozen. The Obama administration estimated the amount to be around $50 billion, while the Israeli ambassador claims the amount to be around $150 billion. However, according to the Obama administration, much of the amount has already been obligated, including projects conducted with China.

Foreign Policy estimated the amount to be around $120 billion. This amount is based on $20 billion per year in oil revenues arriving to a total of $420 billion for 15 years.

Following the estimate provided by the Foreign Policy, the amount will still surpass the total amount the U.S. had sent to Israel since the country's existence. Even with the Obama administration's low estimate, the cash received by Iran from the U.S. would surpass the cash fund sent by the U.S. in the past 15 years with a minimum of $3 billion per year.

The Iran deal will allow the country to access their own money, as stated by the Secretary of State John Kerry. However, much of the financial aid received by Israel from the U.S. is computed to be at least 75 percent of the military aid. Meaning, a large portion of the aid given to Israel will come back as money of the U.S.

Even with the approval of the deal's monetary amount not considered, Iran is still not obligated to spend the money in the United States. Some of the amount is expected to be spent on some terrorist proxies in areas around the Middle East, even with the White House conceding.
