Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

Muslim's holy month could see renewed ISIS offensives

Could the Islamic State build a nuclear weapon? This is a possibility according to reports from Australian intelligence services, who believe that the terrorist group has managed to steal enough radioactive material from government facilities in Iraq and Syria to build a potential "dirty" bomb.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - This new and terrifying reality may be closer at hand than anyone would like to believe, and the group declared their intent to develop weapons of mass destruction in the most recent issue of Dabiq, the group's propaganda magazine.

Julie Bishop, the Australian foreign minister, revealed that Nato is worried that the material the Islamic State has taken from research facilities and hospitals is enough to build crude nuclear devices.

The Islamic States WMD capabilities are so worrying that the Australia Group, a collection of 40 nations that are dedicated to ending chemical weapon use, held a meeting to discuss the group last week.

The Islamic State "is really worrying them," said Bishop during an interview. During their capture of parts of Iraq and Syria "the insurgents did not just clear out the cash from local banks," but also seized potentially valuable or useful material.

The Islamic State may also have the ability to create deadly chemical gases, such as chlorine.

Added to the possibility of the terrorist group gaining the use of WMDs, military and foreign policy advisers fear that the Islamic State will only become "more active than ever" with the start of Ramadan, which is also the one-year anniversary of the declaration of the Islamic Caliphate which was officially formed on June 29 in Mosul, Iraq, last year.
