We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

WASHINGTON, DC (Catholic Online) - The significance of the capture of Mullah Baradar, the top military commander of the infamous Taliban whose reign of terror led to the US presence in the region, cannot be overstated. He is the second most influential leader of the extremist group. His role in the Taliban leadership is reported to  only be exceeded by the founder and leader of the extremist organization, Mullah Muhammad Omar.  Mullah Baradar was a close associate of Osama bin Laden leading up to the September 11 attacks which killed thousands of innocent Americans on U.S. shores in an act of terrorism. Reports now confirm that he was captured in Karachi, Pakistan in a secret joint operation conducted by Pakistani and US intelligence. That close cooperation is another reason this successful capture is so important. It indicates that these two intelligence services are now working in tandem to bring down the Taliban. Further reports indicate that both agencies are conducting interrogations of the prisoner in the hopes of securing further information on significant Taliban assets. The New York Times had the story on Thursday but did not publish it. They delayed its publication at the request of the White House in order to not hamper intelligence gathering efforts connected with the high profile leader´s capture.
