LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Officials spoke to the Washington Post on the condition of anonymity and admitted a wallet, not belonging to the vehicle's original driver, was discovered in the truck.

The wallet contained a Tunisian man's asylum documents - but it was not enough evidence to lead authorities to conclude, without a doubt, he was responsible.

One man seen running from the Christmas Market was apprehended and remains under investigation but authorities shared, "We have a strong lead at the moment and our officers are out on the street."

As officials comb the streets and work to increase security, the German Bishops' Conference has decided it is time to hold a day of prayer.

On Monday, December 26, the Bishops asked Christians to hold a "Day of Prayer for Harassed and Persecuted Christians."

This date coincides with the feast day of St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr.

Bishop Gebhard Furst of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, dubbed the attack a "deed of horror" and shared, "The past night has struck us and shaken us deeply."

He asked Christian to pray: "in order to hold onto, and pray for, and think of what has happened, especially of the victims, the injured, the severely wounded, of those people who were struck and affected by this misfortune, this deed of horror."

Bishop Furst also requested prayers for the victims of the attack and their families.

Mourners and well-wishers have covered the street at the Berlin attack location with candles, flowers, notes and small gifts.

The pain is visible at the memorial site and the prayers have been streaming in. Please consider joining the day of prayer after your Christmas celebrations to honor the helpless victims and their families.
