Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

'Paris is in mourning, lights out on the Eiffel Tower, 158 dead, this is only the beginning.'

Italy's Counterterrorism Agents and the Kosovo police arrested four suspected Jihadists for planning an attack on Pope Francis.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - When police conducted simultaneous raids in Brescia, Vicenza, Perugia and Kosovo, four suspected Jihadists surfaced and were immediately arrested.

According to a police report, written materials and weapons were confiscated at the time the suspects were arrested.

The suspects are being charged with participation in a terror network with specific intent to target the Pope and for incitement of racial hatred.

The leader of the plot, Imishiti Samet, was arrested in Kosovo and his accomplices were arrested in Italy. Prior to his arrest, Samet had taken to Facebook to write, "Paris is in mourning, lights out on the Eiffel Tower, 158 dead, this is only the beginning."

A police report stated the suspects were "highly dangerous" and had "established direct links with jihadist networks active in Syria," including now-deceased Muslim radical Lavdrim Muhaxheri.
The group was also reported to have "propagated jihadist ideology through social networks" and take to social media to claim Pope Francis would be "the last pope."

Carmine Esposito, the superintendent of Brescia, said, "They threatened Pope Bergoglio, praised the recent Paris bombings and threatened the former U.S. Ambassador in Kosovo."

Following the Paris terror attacks, ISIS released a video announcing Rome and Washington D.C. would be next.

The video, which was released November 16, includes extremists proclaiming: "By Allah, if we brought down France in its homeland, in Paris, then we swear, by the command of Allah, we will attack America in its heartland, in Washington, Allah permitting, and we will invade Rome, Allah permitting."

Since the attacks and video warning, armed units have been deployed to patrol Rome's streets.
