Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Romans lose hope for city, fear mayor is too weak to conquer political scandals
FREE Catholic Classes
Arrests of powerful political figures in Rome continuously add up. After discoveries of corruption and mafia linkages, Romans feel more burdened over their falling apart home. Although the current mayor proved to be free from any criminal accusations linked to politicians and so far has remained true to his words on transparency and meritocracy, people feel he is too weak for the problem at hand. The non-traditional politician admits to being an honest man, but some Romans consider that characteristic potentially problematic.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Mayor Ignazio Marino, taking office in 2013, is said to have his integrity still unstained. The former surgeon, trained in the United States, was Romans' hope to deviate from their tarnished political light.
With all the political scandals involving huge figures and the degradation of services, infrastructure and their standard of living, the people can't help but point out that he too honest for his own good.
"His virtue is also his main problem: He is not connected to all the rotten Roman relationships. He knows the world he operates in too little," said La Repubblica investigative journalist Carlo Bonini. Romans are growing louder with their complaints, as the city has insufficient services to cater its 2.8 million people.
A resident asked whether the bus service is that of a first world or third - as she rode the city bus amid the blazing heat, without air conditioning.
While many voice their concerns and lack of faith in the mayor, there are some who keep a little faith for the straight-laced mayor.
"Marino might be an earthenware vase among iron. But he has proved to be persistent and honest," vases," said Sicilian anti-mafia officer Alfonso Sabella, now with the administration.
