Woman self-aborts baby, body missing

A British woman is facing jail over charges that she purchased and took drugs to self-abort her baby within a week of its due date. The body of the aborted child has not been found. 

LONDON, ENGLAND (Catholic Online) - The Daily Mail broke the news on Monday in an article that explained Sarah Catt's situation. However, her motives remain shrouded in mystery. Catt has admitted to the crime, but has thus far refused to cooperate with the authorities, according to the Mail article. 

Catt will face justice for her crime with sentencing is set for September. 

What is known at this time is that Catt, 35, is a mother of two children who recently married in 2009. In 2010, pregnant with a third child and a week away from her delivery date, Catt purchased a drug online that advertised its abortifacient qualities. Catt used this self-procured drug to destroy her baby. The body has not been found. 

The Daily Mail managed to interview Catt's father-in-law who expressed shock at the news, since the family has managed to keep the case private until now. The Mail article quotes her father-in-law describing Catt as a "lovely woman," adding that the case is "out of character" for Catt.

It is unclear if the pregnancy came as a surprise to Catt, who had an ultrasound just short of 30 weeks. In England, abortion is legal under certain circumstances until 24 weeks. This means that if Catt did not realize she was pregnant until the ultrasound, she would have had no option to abort her child.  This may have prompted her outrageous deed. 

Catt has insisted to the authorities that what she did was legal, but she has provided no further details to detectives who still cannot find her victim's body. 

In any case, Catt has pled guilty to her charges and she could face a maximum of life imprisonment, although such a sentence is extremely unlikely. 

This shocking case underscores the need to recognize the personhood of the unborn, and to take seriously women's health issues, including mental health issues that are religiously ignored by the abortion-mill profiteers around the globe.
