NEW YORK (Zenit) - Benedict XVI sent a special greeting to radio listeners on the anniversary of his election to the papacy, saying the means of communication helps him to share the message of the Gospel.
When the Pope was in New York on Saturday, the third anniversary of his election to the See of Peter, he recorded the radio message form the residence of Cardinal Edward Egan at St. Patrick's Cathedral. It is there that Cardinal Egan hosts his weekly Catholic Channel show.
The Catholic Channel is broadcast by SIRIUS Satellite and Internet Radio.
The Holy Father said: "On the occasion of the third anniversary of my election to the See of Peter I would like to take the opportunity to greet and thank all those who have joined us by radio and other media, especially the listeners of The Catholic Channel on SIRIUS Satellite Radio.
"Indeed, this means of communication assists me in sharing the saving message of the Gospel. I am pleased that on The Catholic Channel so many people can follow the daily life and activities of the Church. God bless you all."
The Catholic Channel is a collaboration between SIRIUS and the Archdiocese of New York. The channel began in 2006 and features a selection of priests and lay Catholic leaders. It also airs human interest stories and reflections on Scripture, as well as programming on themes ranging from sacred music to Church history.
