LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - The U.S. Military has dropped the largest conventional bomb in history, the MOAB. The acronym stands for "Massive Ordinance Air Blast," but in the military, it is referred to as the "mother of all bombs."
The bombs are so large it must be dropped out the back of a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft. However, it is fitted with attachments that help guide the bomb accurately to a specific target.
In this case, the target was a complex of caves and tunnels used by ISIS fighters in Afghanistan.
No footage of the blast has been released, but it certainly would have caused a mushroom cloud over the area. Footage of test blasts of the bomb reveals the same effect.
The purpose of the bomb is not to damage so much as it is intimidation. While the weapon is dangerous and likely entombed many ISIS fighters still alive in their caves, it is mostly a psychological weapon. Survivors will have to ponder the wisdom of taking shelter in tunnels which could quickly become death chambers where they could slowly die of asphyxiation.
The mushroom cloud effect is also intentional, suggesting that a nuclear weapon may have been used, or could be used.

How the MOAB works.
President Trump is sending a message to the world. The U.S. is prepared and ready to strike at targets around the world. From Syria to Afghanistan, to North Korea, the United States is capable of delivering fearsome and overwhelming firepower at a word from the president. The world appears to have forgotten this during the eight years of the Obama administration.
It is possible, with a single presidential order, to destroy every city in North Korea in less than 15 minutes, by deploying a portion of the nuclear-tipped missiles on an Ohio Class ballistic missile submarine.
The world has treated the U.S. as if it is incapable of deploying effective force. The events of the past couple weeks is a notice to the world that America has the power to unleash devastation wherever it wants. And no other nation, not even Russia or China has the power to stop it. Russia's military is depleted, and China's force relies heavily on numbers and lacks the technological sophistication to survive.
No other nation even comes close. That's something President Trump wants the world to know, and the message is coming across, loud and clear.
