African migrants on the Libyan territory are plagued with several dangers; cruelty and violence against them are among the main causes that push them to search for a safe destination, like Europe.

ALGIERS, ALGERIA (Catholic Online) - To reach this continent, they must face the dangerous Mediterranean, crossing and risking their lives.

Amnesty International sounded the alarm and denounced the conditions of these migrants in Libya. Of the 1770 km of Libyan coast, clandestine departures have grown rapidly since the country fell into chaos and the civil war.

Most of the migrants originated from the Sahel. Malians are among the candidates at death. The conditions they face in their countries are worsening. Northern Mali, for example, is subjected to insecurity and ethnic violence between different groups.

Terrorist groups have reinforced their presence and push people to move northwards. While in Libya, the Libyan people face an unimaginable monstrosity and cruelty that caused them to follow their misadventure.

International organizations must not turn a blind eye on this weakened category of people, according to a member of one Malian ONG in Bamako.

"Without the stabilization of the situation, all the northern people could be candidate at the exile and the crossing during which most of them lose their lives. Local governments must resolve the crisis and invite all the belligerents to the same table of negotiations and find a solution to the conflict. People of different origins must learn to cohabit together in the same symbiosis and must roll up their sleeves to build the country on solid foundations to avoid this situation," stated one Algerian local journalist on the condition of anonymity.
