LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - These cute little breakfast items are a hit at any brunch spread, breakfast table or even on your dinner plate.
Cloud eggs are named for the softly cooked yolks floating on the cloud-like egg whites.

Cloud eggs (The Suburban Soapbox).
The trendy breakfast is only 161 calories and is pleasing to both the eye and the stomach.
To make cloud eggs, follow these simple steps:
- Separate the yolks from the whites and place them in two different bowls
- Whisk the egg whites until thick and fluffy
- Fold in any extra ingredients (whatever you like in a traditional omelette)
- Place in piles on baking sheet, leaving a hole in the center for the yolk
- Bake in pre-heated oven at 450-degrees Fahrenheit for 5-8 minutes
- Remove from oven, pop the yolk and bake for 3 more minutes
- Remove and serve
REMEMBER: When adding ingredients to the egg whites, it is best to gently fold them into the fragile whites. Too much mixing will result in flat "clouds" and sunken ingredients.
Frying the clouds on a grill or in a pan before popping them into the oven is also a great way to ensure the bottom is nice and crisp. While some prefer using oil in the pan, don't forget butter is a great way to add flavor, though you will also be adding calories.

You can add whatever seasonings, meats and vegetables as you like.
Enjoy your cloud eggs any way you please! Some have added absolutely nothing, others whip in some salt and pepper, and yet others have incorporated this trendy meal in other ways.
Fans have made the amazing cloud eggs into a healthy part of their diet and many took to Instagram to reveal their creative methods.
