'Wireless Armour': New underwear go on sale to protect men's fertility from 'harmful wireless signals'

Smartphones and laptops are linked to the harmful radiation.

Although studies are still to be conducted to establish a strong relationship between electromagnetic radiation through phones and other similar devices and fertility, a line of boxer underwear has been launched linked with this concern. The "Wireless Armour" boxers are reportedly made out of cotton meshed with fine threads of silver that block signals, including that Wi-Fi from getting in the groin, while preventing growth of bacteria.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - "Like so many people, my smartphone and laptop use has increased dramatically in recent years, which made me realise that I was exposing myself to large amounts of electromagnetic radiation, mostly centred on my groin," said physics graduate Joseph Perkins, the inventor, as cited from The Daily Mail.

Perkins believes that with his background in science, the solution against the potential harm can be created. His range of underwear works with the technology called the "Faraday cage" - protecting electronics from any interference by blocking the current.

Branded as the "underpants by superheroes" by Sir Richard Branson, the Wireless Armour is woven with fine threads of pure silver, blocking off 99.9 percent of the electronic radiation from commonly used devices like smartphones, laptops and tablets. Each pair was produced from fabric woven with about 20 percent silver, keeping it away from 99.97 percent of Wi-Fi signals, making it stronger and able to prevent bacterial growth to keep it fresh.

Wireless Armour was released with two versions, one that has the Faraday cage only on the front, the 180 model, and the 360 model which protects both the front and the back.

However, one expert is skeptical about conclusions from "alarming" researches about electronic devices and fertility, particularly on one study that has a poor quality of evidence.
