LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Catholic Online School will soon add another class to all catechism courses in grades 1-8. At this time, each grade has five classes each, and a sixth will be added to each grade in December. Each class includes four lessons.
The catechism courses are intended to teach the basics of the Bible and Catholic faith to grade school age students. They are ideal for homeschoolers as well as classroom teachers.
At this time, writing of the lessons is almost complete. Once the lesson plans are complete with scripts, the content is sent to the California Studios where the companion videos for each lesson are produced.
Once the videos are finished, they are returned to Catholic Online School where the classes are posted and published for all to enjoy. Students can expect to see the first of these classes published on Catholic Online School before the start of January.
In addition to these courses, the school will post additional content for the Advent and Christmas seasons. Courses on the saints and other topics will be posted as usual. And the Daily Readings course with Questions for Reflection is updated daily.
Sometime after the new year, Catholic Online School will publish courses on the Constitution of the United States, and Great Battles in History. Both of these courses are in academic production, meaning the lessons and scripts are being researched and written. Both of these courses will be published under "History," and they are unique because they are secular in nature. In other words, these courses are not about the Catholic faith, but rather about the topics themselves. However, the Great Battles course will cover the Battles of Tours and Lepanto, two battles which were decisive in the centuries-long conflict between Islam and Christendom.
A popular introductory course on ancient western history was published in the early fall of this year.
The reason for such courses as these is to broaden the appeal of Catholic Online School. As non-Catholics and non-Christians visit the school for these courses, it is hoped they will be exposed to the truth of the Catholic faith.
Catholic Online School's mission is to provide a free, world-class Catholic education to anyone, anywhere. All courses are 100 percent free with nothing to purchase, ever. Some courses offer certificates of completion.
Catholic Online School is 100 percent supported by generous donations from faithful Catholics who are called to support this mission. You can learn more here.
