Medicaid - Who needs it and what will happen to the program with Trump's new Care Act?

Medicaid is one of the most important social services provided by the United States government.

A new study revealed exactly how many births are funded by Medicaid each year, prompting many to question what Trump's new American Care Act will do to families across the nation.

More and more women are relying on Medicaid for child care and birthing bills.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The report, provided by the Kaiser Family Foundation, revealed over fifty percent of births in 24 of America's fifty states rely on Medicaid.

New Mexico is the most reliant, with 72 percent of its births relying on Medicaid in 2015, while New Hampshire only had 27 percent.

According to their site, Medicaid paid an average of $5.5 million each month in 2014 but increased to an average of $6 million by 2016.

But what does the increase in expenses mean?

It means more families across the nation are without health insurance. Now, thanks to Obamacare, anyone without insurance is subject to a fine - even though their tax dollars go toward programs such as Medicaid, which they in turn rely on.

It also serves as an indication that company greed or inability leaves millions in the United States without access to employer-provided care.

According to Fortune, the United States government has been working to help those in need of medical coverage with an Obamacare replacement: Trumpcare.

Unfortunately, Trump's American Health Care Act (AHCA) has hit several snags, such as Medicaid coverage being rescinded should an unemployed mother fail to find work within 60 days of giving birth.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation,  nearly 28 percent of those on Medicaid claim they are unable to find work as they are too busy taking care of their home or family.

In fact, eight in ten Medicaid recipients are part of a family with at least one working member but are low-income, which often requires one parent to take on other responsibilities around the home.

What will happen to women who lose access to Medicaid after their children are born? More importantly, what will become of their children?

Please pray for the United States government to make the right choices for its women, children and families.
