LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Suddenly, women were given more access to murdering their unborn children for no reason other than the child was unwanted, they didn't want their stomach's to stretch or they felt they just weren't ready.
Since the Roe v. Wade case in 1973, nearly 60,000 unborn children have paid the price of the inhumane laws, leaving Christians heartbroken in the face of child slaughter.
To pay homage to those babies who were never given a chance, thousands join the March for Life in Washington, D.C.
According to the March for Life website, Friday, January 27, 2017 will begin with a musical opening at 11:45 a.m.
A rally will follow at noon and at 1 p.m. the march will commence. At approximately 3 p.m., all in attendance will listen to Silent No More testimonies outside the U.S. Supreme Court, followed by an opportunity to "visit" a "Representative or Senator to advocate for life."
Showing the world we disapprove of abortion laws and are willing to speak to those with the power to help change them is a monumental challenge Christians have tackled head-on for years - but what if there were something else we could do?
What if those who live far from the Capitol could offer encouragement and power?
The Colson Center for Christian Worldview created a free booklet titled "21 Days of Prayer."
The free PDF is also available for free download to digital devices and explains how millions around the world can travel together on a three-week prayer journey.
"The abortion controversy is not going away anytime soon," the booklet reads. "Why? because what's at stake is not a surgical procedure.
"Beneath the rhetoric from both sides lies a fundamental question: Who counts as one of us? Does each and every human being have an equal right to life, or do our rights rest on some characteristic that may come and go in the course of our lifetimes?
"We rightfully consider historical blights like sexism and racism as evil, because they highlight a surface difference (like gender or skin color) while ignoring the underlying humanity all of us share.
"All humans - whether women or men, African-Americans or Whites - are all equals, and should not face discrimination, because we all share an essential human nature. If the unborn also share that nature, we should protect them as well.
"Today, with elective abortion, we've simply swapped one form of bigotry for another."
The booklet continues, explaining the two objectives are to "Help Christians pray with understanding" and to "Equip Christians to engage others in true and loving conversation."
In fact, much of the prayers are for the victims of abortion, not only the murdered babies but also for the parents, grandparents, siblings, extended family, politicians, lawmakers and even abortion workers.
There are calls to pray for encouragement, resources, change, courage, clergy, clarity and salvation. Each day asks for three specific things to pray for - all of which are powerful and related to the horrors of abortion.
As an extra bonus, each day includes beautiful stories of life to inspire and encourage Christians to pray for change, forgiveness and life.
The booklet is available at BreakPoint.org. The Church asks that you get a copy for yourself and share it by forwarding the link to at least five people.
Every prayer counts.
"In truth I tell you once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask anything at all, it will be granted to you by my Father in Heaven. For where two or three meet in my name, I am there among them." - Matthew 18:19-20
Father God,
We ask for your heavenly influence.
We pray for change in the hearts of our lawmakers
And courage to the pregnant women contemplating abortion.
Blanket us in your grace and mercy,
That all hearts turn to follow your example.
Thank you, Father, for your unending forgiveness
And hope.
Help us save the unborn, Lord,
Whose lives are in your hand from the moment of conception to the moment they return to you.
Amen.
