LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Antoine turned himself in to the Norwich police to admit he killed his wife, Mady Antoine.
According to NECN, the 39-year-old told officers he killed Mady by repeatedly stabbing her with a knife.
When officers responded to Antoine's confession they discovered Mady unresponsive and 8-months pregnant.
She had suffered several stab wounds as well as burns from the fire.
Police court documents revealed Antoine believed Mady was a Voodoo priestess and claimed she had been casting spells on him for years.
He then stated his wife warned he would be dead by July and his death would be the sacrifice for their unborn child.
The report continued, explaining a verbal argument between Antoine and his wife broke out the morning of her brutal murder.
Antoine admitted he grabbed a steak knife and hid it within the pocket of his pajamas when Mady walked from the kitchen.
He then followed her and the argument continued. Antoine said Mady pushed him so he retaliated by stabbing her in the head, face and feet.
After the attack, Antoine used a Bic lighter to set the curtains of several rooms in their apartment on fire.
Then he fled.
Rather than hiding, Antoine, still covered in his wife's blood, turned himself in to the Norwich Police at nearly the same time firefighters were dispatched to their apartment.
"My wife is dead," Antoine reportedly told authorities. "I killed my wife."
After further investigations, officers discovered Mady was pregnant with the couple's third child and, luckily, the other two children were away from the home at the time of the incident.
The Hartford Courant reported Antoine had a brief court appearance on Friday, where Judge Arthur Hadden described Mady's murder as "nothing less than horrific" then set his bail at $2 million.
Antoine has since been charged with murder and first-degree arson but there have been no charges against him for the death of his unborn child, which he repeatedly claimed was not his, as the state of Connecticut does not recognize the killing of an unborn child as murder.
