'He just asked about things and told me to fetch things. He gave orders, nothing more.'

Saja al-Dulaimi has revealed what married life with the world's most wanted psychopath was like.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Dulaimi married ISIS leader Bakr al-Baghdadi but managed to escape when she discovered she was pregnant with his daughter.

The comments she made on the relationship has revealed the stark contrast between a traditional Western relationship and the relationship expectations in the Middle East.

In an interview with Expressen, Dulaimi explained how she married a good man and bore twin boys, but her husband died only one year after their marriage during the onset of the  Jaish al-Rashedin resistance movement.

She was struggling to support herself and her boys when her father arranged her marriage to who she believed to be a "normal person who was a university lecturer. At the time his name was Hisham Mohammad," she explained.

Dulaimi described their married life was difficult as she and the boys joined his first wife and her children under his roof. She was lonely and they lived in a small space, but according to Iraqi tradition, Mohammad married her as an act of kindness so she and her children could be properly cared for - and so he could receive a reward in the afterlife.

"He didn't say much about his background," Dulaimi said. "He was mysterious. He wasn't very talkative. We met in the evenings, over dinner. He spent his days at the university, where he taught religion and Sharia. He would sometimes disappear for several days. He said he'd been to visit his brother."

She described how he loved the children and how he treated them with respect, but admitted the relationship "was shallow." His first wife had not been informed of his decision to marry a widow, leaving Dulaimi guilty and even more lonely. She decided to leave after their third month of marriage and only later learned she was pregnant.

"It was unfair on his first wife," she stated. "She was very upset. That's why I left."
Dulaimi returned to her first husband's family in Baghdad and married another, more caring man.

When asked if she ever loved the man who would become Bakr al-Baghdadi, Dulaimi stated: "No, I was not in love with him. I didn't love him. He was an enigmatic person. You couldn't have a discussion or hold a normal conversation with him. In the evening, when  he came home, we would usually eat dinner together.

"He just asked about things and told me to fetch things. He gave orders, nothing more.

It would not be until seven years later that she would learn of her ex-husband's true identity. She admitted the last conversation they shared was in 2009, when he asked if she wanted to return to him.

After going through a series of prisons with her children, Dulaimi's immediate response was that she would never return to her ex-husband.

"We're divorced now," she stated firmly. "I was the one who left him. I'm a woman who has been through a lot and who has suffered in  prison. If I wanted to live with al-Baghdadi, I could have lived like a princess. I don't want money. I want to live in freedom."
