We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

Steve Bollman, founder of Paradisus Dei, is here to tell us that's just not true. His new book The Choice Wine: 7 Steps To A Superabundant Marriage makes a pretty indisputable case that a good marriage is not only still possible, it will actually make you happier, healthier and even wealthier.

Bollman, as a faithful Catholic, naturally bases his book in the rich teachings of the faith. But, what really stands out in this book is that his claims are fully backed up by data: medical, scientific and official surveys. He relays some fascinating tidbits that can really give couples an opportunity to think about the importance of their marriage and the time and attention they give their spouse and children. For example, did you know:

- When a married person hears their spouse's name, their brain registers it as if their own name had been spoken
- Children in families who eat dinner together are more likely to stay away from substance abuse and to do better in school
- Statistics show that married individuals are, overall, in better shape, both physically and financially than unmarried individuals
- Couples who go to Church each Sunday are much more likely to stay together than couples who don't

These intriguing pieces of food for thought are part of a larger framework of steps that Bollman proposes will not only build a marriage that lasts, but lead couples to experience the superabundance God intends for them.

The book is based upon Paradisus Dei's program The Choice Wine: 7 Steps To A Superabundant Marriage that is taking places in numerous parishes throughout the country. When surveyed after the program's completion, while pursuing these 7 steps, 4 out of 5 couples say that they are "very happily married" and the other 1 out of 5 say they are "happily married". In other words, the steps work!

I was impressed that while the book is packed with great information, it is still a very accessible read. It would be the ideal for couples to read together as a way to grow closer to God and one another. Additionally, I could envision small groups of couples coming together to discuss the book in a book club situation. And, of course, it makes a great companion to the parish program.

Ultimately, this book not only paints a hopeful picture for the enduring future of joyful, committed marriage, it gives us the tools to make that picture a reality.  The Choice Wine: 7 Steps To A Superabundant Marriage will surely be the impetus for transformed marriage and, in turn, reinvigorated families, parishes and communities.
