Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

After one bad report after another, Brittani McIntire discovered her unborn son was comforted by his sister.

Ian and Brittani McIntire were told that one of their unborn twins was not likely to survive. The distraught couple did all they could, but knowing their son wouldn't make it was unbearable - until an ultrasound image changed everything.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - "We went in for our 6 week sonogram and they just said there's one heartbeat and here's another," Brittani told Fox6now.

The McIntires were told their twins - one boy and one girl - were not growing at the same pace.

Their son weighed only nine-ounces while his sister was over two pounds. Doctors informed the couple that their son had a hole in his heart and was suffering an abnormal brain. Regardless of his difficulties, the McIntires hold hope.

"His only change of survival would be heart surgery but they wouldn't do heart surgery because of his brain," Brittani admitted.

On Tuesday, Brittani had an ultrasound that revealed the shocking relationship between the unborn twins.

Their son's hand was pictured holding his sister's.

"Most twins when she's trying to take pictures and stuff they're kicking each other and hitting each other and she said with our twins it seems like she was very protective over him," Brittani said.

"We know we have a piece of them together that will last forever...and it's special to have," Ian added.

Brittani admitted, "It's just nice with everything going on... I know I'm holding him, I'm carrying him but I just want to be there for him. She's the only one who can actually be there and is holding onto him...so it's comforting to know that if he does pass, he won't be alone."
