Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

Reports surface of another private meeting held by the Holy Father.

Reports reveal Pope Francis' historic visit to the U.S. included a private meeting with a gay couple, prior to his meeting with Kentucky clerk Kim Davis and her husband.

WASHINGTON D.C. (Catholic Online) - Another unexpected event has been revealed from the pope's historic visit to the United States. The pontiff appeared to have met in private with a gay couple a day before he met with Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, according to the Blaze.

Pope Francis reportedly met with Yayo Grassi and his long-time partner Iwan during his visit to the U.S. Grassi has known Pope Francis for decades. However, he declined to reveal details of the meeting to the media.

"Three weeks before the trip, he called me on the phone and said he would love to give me a hug," Yayo Grassi revealed in an interview with CNN. He also believes the pontiff was "misled" into a meeting with Davis.

A video surfaced featuring the pope embracing Grassi as they met up at the Vatican Embassy in Washington D.C. The meeting appeared to be set-up by the pope himself through email before his trip.

The two's history dates as far back as the 1960's when Grassi was still a student of the pope during high school in Argentina. Pope Francis taught literature and psychology. They have remained friends and the Pope has never judged Grassi for his sexual preference.

"He has never been judgmental. He has never said anything negative," Grassi shared. "Obviously he is the pastor of the church and he has to follow the church's teachings. But as a human being he understands all kinds of situations, and he is open to all kinds of people, including those with different sexual characteristics."
