Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

Homeless man travels five miles for work every day.

Roeland Park Police Department makes headlines again with more heartwarming news. An officer was called to check on a suspicious man in Sweeney Park on September 22. However, instead of finding a man worthy of arrest, he found one with an inspirational story.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (Catholic Online) - Daily Mil reported that last Tuesday, Officer Zack Stamper was called to check the park following a report about a suspicious man lurking around. Upon arrival, Stamper found Samuel Meixueiro resting on a bench.
Fulfilling his duty, he asked the man a series of questions and learned Meixueiro slept at a church and was walking on his way to work when he decided to stop at the park to rest. He told the officer he lost his home and was currently homeless.

Officer Stamper learned Meixueiro had found work but to keep his job he was required to walk 5-6 hours each day to and from Kansas City to Mission.
Meixueiro told station WDAF, "As I told him my story he started loosening up. Started realizing I'mnot a vagrant. I have a job. I'm doing the best I can."
Stamper listened to Meixueiro's story and decided to drive him to work that day.
"I couldn't imagine spending five hours a day traveling back and forth to work, let alone on foot," said Officer Stamper.
With his own money, he purchased Meixuiero a bicycle and a duffel bag to hold his belongings then returned to Meixueiro's job to deliver them.

Meixueiro said he broke down at the policeman's kindness and compassion. "Things are so hard for me right now. Any kind of help is just a blessing," he told Stamper in  thanks.
Likewise, the officer was still touched, saying: "It made my day. It made my career."
Kansas police officers have been making headlines for all the right reasons. Just last July, Stamper's colleague at the station, Officer Mark Engravalle, made headlines after giving a widow with 6 children one-hundred-dollars-worth of supplies using his own money after she was caught shoplifting diapers. Amid several cases of violence against police and accusations of racism in police departments, it is good to see that not all is dark in this world.
