Hillary agreed to uphold the message

Democratic presidential candidate and life-long Methodist, Hilary Clinton, went to attend the bi-centennial celebration of her former church in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, September 13, with her husband, former president of the United States Bill Clinton, and their daughter Chelsea. At the church, Hilary met her former pastor who told her to be nicer to people in the media.

Highlights

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Retired pastor, J. Philip Wogaman, who used to serve in Foundry United Methodist Church the Clintons attended during Bill Clinton's presidency, said that his advice to Hilary was something he adapted from Romans 12, reported the Associated Press.

Hilary was quoted saying, "I got some advice from Dr. Wogaman just earlier this morning, which I promise I will put into effect. Basically he said, if you're going to read and listen to Romans 12 you got to be nicer to the press."
The audience laughed when she relayed Wogaman's comment, particularly due to several tense moments between her campaign and members of the media.

The Bible verse, Romans 12, reads: "Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."
Instead of being political at the event, the former first lady focused on her church and spoke about the importance of her Methodist faith instead. Hilary recalled the time when she was still a member of the youth ministry. She also shared how thankful she is to the Foundry United Methodist Church, where she apparently found solace during her husband's presidency.
Hilary recalled that to the church, they were not the First Family, they were just a simple family that was part of the church. Clinton described how she cherished that sentiment the most.
