Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

MUNTINLUPA CITY, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Daily Mail reported 26-year-old Michelle Wilkins was fighting back her tears during an interview as she recalled the incident.
Wilkins was eight months pregnant when she went to Dynel Lane's home in Longmont, Colorado in search of maternity clothing advertised on Craigslist.
Lane invited her inside and laid out the clothes, asking, "whats your size? I think these fit you." After sorting through the clothing and preparing to leave, Lane told her there were girl clothes downstairs someone gave her before she knew she was pregnant with a son.
"And intuitively, I had that sensation wash over me, I have everything I need," Wilkins said. "But for fear of being impolite, I decided to stay. She actually physically reached across me and closed the door in front of me.
"When she attacked me, she hit my back. It was very aggressive and hard, and I asked her, 'was there a spider on me?' and she said, 'yeah, I think I got it."
When she tried to leave, she was pushed deeper into the house, toward a bathroom. Amid the struggle, Wilkins was able to pull her phone from her purse and threaten to call 911.
At that point, Wilkins describes "that's when the real struggle begins and she just throws me onto the bed and tries to suffocate me with the pillow ... She broke something over my head and I just felt the liquid wash over me and I just kept saying, 'Why, why are you doing this? Why?'"
Wilkins said she told Lane she loved her, to which Lane responded, "If you love me, you will let me do this."
Lane's words were the last moments Wilkins recalls before waking up and calling 911.
Her stomach was cut open and her unborn child, Aurora, was exposed. Wilkins and her partner Dan were able to spend a moment with Aurora and describe the infant as the "most beautiful thing [they] had ever seen. Those were our first moments as a family."
Lane is now being held on $2 million bail and she pleaded not guilty before the court with eight counts of felony including first-degree unlawful termination of pregnancy, attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault in July and is due to go on trial in early 2016.
She admitted to committing the crime, according to a police affidavit, but claimed she sliced the baby out to save it after Wilkins tried to stab her.
Glassy-eyed Wilkins narrated her harrowing experience on Dr. Phil.
