Post features young boy's caring nature.

Humans of New York photographer Brandon Stanton traveled through Iran and snapped a photo of a young boy who gave apricots to those more in need than he. The photo went viral, even earning a personal comment by President Obama.

Highlights

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - One reply to the story is the hope that the young Iranian, who inspired people across the world with his loving action toward the needy, will save him an apricot if he ever gets to meet him.

The comment, signed by "bo," earned the photo -and the story behind it- even more fame.

During his stay in Iran, where he was documenting stories of people from various walks of life, Brandon Stanton encountered a boy and his father in the town of Tabiz.

Father and son sat on a carpet as the father told Stanton he knew he was "raising a humanitarian" when his boy displayed acts of love and compassion toward others, helping them out in simple ways.

The boys father explained his son was just five-years-old and they had gone to the market and purchased two-pounds of apricots. His son held the bag and walked behind him on the way home.

After a time, he turned to his son and asked for an apricot but his son admitted he couldn't because he had given all of them away to people they passed on the road who seemed to be in more needy than they were.

Rather than being upset about the loss of newly purchased fruit, he said he was proud of his son.

Many were inspired after the photo and story were featured on the Humans of New York Facebook page.

Thousands of social media users shared the story and left comments. It even reached U.S. President Barack Obama, who left a heartfelt comment:

"One of the most fulfilling things that can happen to you as a parent is to see the values you've worked to instill in your kids start to manifest themselves in their actions -and this one really resonated with me ... And I'm going to continue doing whatever I can to make this world a place where he and every young person like him can live up to their full potential."

The comment was signed "bo" under the official White House Facebook account, signifying it was written by the president himself.
