Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >
'You won't destroy their spirit': Christian couple weds in ISIS bombed church
FREE Catholic Classes
ISIS militants blew up a Christian church, leaving it in ruins, but the spirit of Christianity and love among the people within its community continued to prevail. A young couple wed in the rubble and the celebration of the sacred union was full of brightness and smiles. The women, despite the rules and regulations imposed by the extremist terror group, dressed in Western clothes.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - In Homs City, Syria, a lovely wedding took place within the ruins of the destroyed St. George's Church. In the debris and sky-open standing structure, men wore suits and women wore pretty gowns, as they celebrated Fadi and Rana's wedding.
The audience all stood at the wonderful celebration, earlier this month. White flower bouquets lined the aisle and everyone wore their most beautiful smiles.
Although ISIS ruthlessly imposes rules on clothing, especially for women, the female guests wore Western-styled dresses.
Photos of the wedding celebration were posted by the St. George's Church in Homs and another Facebook page managed by the neighborhood. There they shared the undying spirit of love and hope for people amid the war. In May, the Syrian government regained control of the city after a series of battles that left a lot of destruction.
@Bassem posted a photo of the celebration with a Tweet, "U can destroy their church but u won't destroy their spirit. First wedding at St George church Hamidieh Homs #Syria."
