Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

People believe they are possessed after participating in demon-summoning ritual.

Participants of the "Charlie, Charlie Challenge," which supposedly summons a Mexican ghost, are reportedly becoming "possessed by Satan." However, as many have already explained, the game is not real and the pencil can move in variety of ways. Nonetheless, people are so engrossed in the hype that students from the Dominican Republic have been admitted in a hospital claiming to be possessed.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - "Three students were absent from class because their parents believed they were possessed by the devil," said the Juan Pablo Duarte Primary School's deputy headmistress, Jovita Jimenez, as cited by The Daily Mail.

The original "Charlie, Charlie" video is believed to be from the town of Hato Mayor, where people are now taking the game and its demonic consequences seriously.

"The students and parents alike have been terrified. Many have appeared with inexplicable bruises on their bodies," she said. It was reported that the activity has been trending with young people around the globe, as numerous videos were made that claim to have recorded the demonic appearance.

"There's a deep-seated belief in the supernatural here, and the mind can play terrifying tricks on the body. For that reason alone we don't recommend this game to anyone, but in children it can be very dangerous," said the director at Antonio Mursa Regional Hospital, Dr. Luis Guillermo Hernandez.

Although there have been explanations for why the pencils move without obvious human intervention, people are believing in the presupposed consequences thinking they have been exposed to the supernatural traditions reportedly originated from the Spanish culture.

According to the Daily Mail, the game has always been played in Latin America, although it has just recently become a dangerous trend among other countries, including the United States.

Hato Mayor continues practicing the voodoo religion that believes in the power of witchcraft, including a ritual similar to the "Charlie, Charlie Challenge."
