Middle Eastern high school student suspended for using fake bomb during prom proposal

Ibrahim Ahmad was suspended from attending prom for controversial prom proposal.

Senior student Ibrahim Ahmad, 18, from LA Center High School, was been suspended last week for a stunt he did in school for the upcoming prom. In order to make a girl say yes to his prom date proposal, he strapped a fake bomb around his body, which caused panic among the school administrators. They calmed down when they realized the student was not really a threat, and the bomb strapped onto his body was a fake prop.

Ahmad's claims the reason he created the stunt was because he felt very pressured to ask the girl he wanted to be his date to the prom. He added that these days, people come up with creative ways in order to get a person's "yes" to a proposal. That is why he thought he would surprise his would-be date at lunchtime.

Keep God's message with you always -- A Bible is all you need

Ahmad thought it would be funny and clever to propose with a prop bomb since he is Middle Eastern.

He arrived at school with a paintball vest strapped to his waist, with his open pockets showing red wires attached to red paper tubes, which actually looked like explosives.

Come lunchtime, he went into the school's cafeteria and stood up on the stage with a sign saying "I kno it's A little Late, But I'm Kinda.THE BOMB! Rilea, Will U Be My Date to Prom?"

Ahmad claims he only wore the vest with the prop bomb for less than 20 seconds but got his picture taken wearing it, after he asked the girl to be his prom date. It was then that the school administrators called for his attention and expressed their disapproval of the stunt.

The school's superintendent Mark Mansell explained in an interview that Ahmad should be punished for the stunt he did, as he showed disrespect to the school. Ahmad, however, believes he didn't break any rules. And, his would-be date, Rilea Wolfe said yes to his proposal.

For Superintendent Mansell, even if the students who witnessed the stunt were laughing and did not seem to feel threatened at all, Ahmad still deserves to be suspended, as he did something he knows the principal wouldn't support.

Ahmad feels his suspension is a racist thing for the school to do.

In lighter news, since Ahmad won't be able to go to the school's prom, he and Wolfe decided to have a dinner date instead.
