LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - All any girl wants is to feel pretty, and buying makeup seems like the only way to do it for most girls. They convince themselves that any price is worth it.

This $15 eyeshadow will last and it says it makes your eyes brighter, so you have to get it, right?

"Indulging in your makeup fetish can really break the bank," states Elite Daily. "The trick is to figure out which products to invest in and which products you can get away with buying at your local drugstore."

Elite Daily and professional makeup artist Sarah-Jane Beatty teamed up to help the women of today figure out which makeup products are worth the escalated prices and which are just as effective at a bargain price.

According to Beatty, "a portion of whatever product you apply to your face is going to be absorbed - proving you really are what you paint yourself to be," so it's important to know exactly what you're putting on.

When it comes to skin-covering products, like foundation or BB cream it is better to go ahead an spend the money rather than trying to save a few bucks.

"When buying foundation, it's critical to  choose a product that matches the exact pigment of your skin and gives you flawless cover."

After all, it is the base of your makeup application.

"Using a high-quality foundation will give you the coverage and finish you'd expect from a professional quality product. When applying foundation, less is more, and you won't need to apply as much as you would with a drugstore version," explained Beatty to Elite Daily. "Anything that is going to be absorbed directly into your skin should be high quality with the purest ingredients and least amount of fibers."

With the next layer of makeup, like lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, bronzer and blush, it's perfectly fine to go with the less-expensive product.

According to Beatty, there is little difference between high-costing and budget lipsticks.

"A great lash mascara from a drugstore won't ever fail to make your eyes pop," explains Elite Daily. Maybelline's products are "affordable and fabulous."

Beatty says her "personal philosophy is to spend on products touching your face first, but to save on color products," like blush and bronzer.

With these tips in hand, looking like a million dollars doesn't have to leave you in debt because you spent your rent money on lipstick.
