We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

More than 240,000 candidates nationwide began sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination Oct. 23. The examination period ends on Nov. 17. Cheating in exams is a considerable problem in Kenya, leading in recent years to cancellation of results for hundreds of candidates. Presiding over a special mass for candidates at Holy Family Nguviu Parish on Oct. 18, Bishop Muheria in his sermon urged students to put the word of God first in order for them to be able to pursue academic excellence. He told candidates to practice honesty during the examination. Bishop Muheria also called on other students to work hard to post good results in national exams. Students from all eight Catholic-sponsored secondary and some primary schools in Embu District attended the Mass. The prelate cautioned them against neglecting spirituality as they pursued academic success. He asked the students to put into practice the teachings of holy scriptures. The annual parish event was also attended by priests and sisters working in the parish, teachers and diocesan and government educational officials.
