Girardot (ACI Prensa) - Nacio el 30 de septiembre de 1958 en la ciudad colombiana de Cienaga, a las orillas del Mar Caribe.
Completo sus estudios sacerdotales en el Seminario Mayor de la Arquidiocesis de Tunja. Obtuvo la licenciatura en Teologia Moral en la Pontificia Universidad Gregoriana de Roma, una especializacion en Educacion por la Fundacion Universitaria Juan de Castellanos de Tunja y un doctorado en Teologia en la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogota.
Fue ordenado sacerdote el 24 de noviembre de 1984.
Como presbitero se ha desempenado como formador y luego rector del Seminario Mayor de Tunja, profesor en la Fundacion Universitaria Juan de Castellanos de Tunja, entre otros cargos.
Fue nombrado Obispo de Arauca el 22 de octubre de 2010.
