Como es tradicion, la Via della Conciliazione de Roma, que da acceso a la Plaza de San Pedro del Vaticano, estuvo adornada con alfombras florales por la Solemnidad de los Santos Pedro y Pablo este viernes 29 de junio, una iniciativa popularmente conocida como "infiorata".

-" ACI Prensa (@aciprensa) 29 de junio de 2018La tradicional infiorata, que se puede traducir como "decorada con flores", se remonta al siglo XVIII cuando Benedetto Drei, responsable de la floreria vaticana, y su hijo Pedro, decidieron adornar la Basilica de San Pedro con estas alfombras, a maneras de mosaicos, para la fiesta del 29 de junio de 1625.
Luego, fue el famoso artista Gian Lorenzo Bernini quien difundio esta tradicion que luego se extendio a la fiesta del Corpus Christi, alrededor de 1778.
