El APSA es el departamento u oficina de la Curia Romana que se ocupa de los bienes inmuebles de la Santa Sede y su gestion, con el fin de proporcionar los fondos necesarios para que la Curia romana funcione.
En 2016, el Papa Francisco publico un Motu Proprio sobre algunas competencias en materia economica y financiera de la Santa Sede con el fin de continuar por el camino de la transparencia y el control de la administracion de los bienes del Vaticano.
